Smoke and Oak Men’s Night
The Point Man Podcast partnered with Arena Collective to host 50 men for a night of community, fellowship and much-needed fundraising for the mission. In our inaugural BBQ, Bourbon and Beer night, the mean learned more about our mission - challenging each man to be The Point Man for his family - through stories from the team. Thanks to BBQ sponsor The Notorious P.I.G. for the generous BBQ donation, for our auction donations, and to all who support the mission of The Point Man Podcast. Look for more men's night events in the future and please email info.thepointmanpodcast.com if you'd like to join our mailing list for future events.
Husband & Wife Date Night
60 husbands and wives gathered at Dakota Resturant in Covington, Lousisiana for the innagural husband/wife date night. Couples enjoyed the fellowship, the full meal and open bar along with a keynote speech by The Point Man Podcast co-host and Willwoods Director of Faith and Marriage Jason Angelette. Including stories of his own marriage, Jason focused on prayer, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Reconciliation as keys to a lasting, joy-filled marriage. Jason challenged couples to go deeper individually and as a couple in their faith and, paraphrasing St. John Paul II, to not be afraid of the beautiful journey.
Father/Son Camp out
Three days after one of South Louisiana's largest snow events in decades, 40 fathers and sons braved freezing temperatures for the innagural father son campout and withstood the test with joy and resiliance. Echo Community Executive Director Brian Butler spoke to the group with the theme "risks worth taking," challenging the men and their sons to consider the reasons behind, and results of, our choices. Everyone ate well Friday night, the boys roasted marshmallows, and after beginets on Saturday morning, Fr. Jonathan Hemelt celebrated mass on the campgrounds with perhaps the highest altar-server-to-congregation ratio the Archdioses has ever seen.
